Kenyan university students will face 56,000 counterparts from 35 countries in a competition to test decision-making skills in running organisations.

The Global Management Challenge, whose finals will be held in Macau, China, in June, is also open to unemployed youth and corporate professionals.

The competition puts to test the participants’ decision-making skills in strategy, marketing, production, human resource and finance.

The competition is seen as a stepping stone for young professionals into blue-chip companies.

Speaking at the launch in Nairobi, GMC Kenya founder Asim Shah urged students and young professionals to seize the opportunity to test skills, expand networks, and take their careers to the next level.

“Beyond networking, the Global Management Competition connects participants with global industry leaders through upskilling and exposure, enhancing their employability in today’s competitive job market,” he stated.

GMC Kenya has partnered with MRX Media to reach students and young participants through social media.

GMC Kenya will target students, jobless youths, and corporate professionals who frequent social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.

“Our data indicates our young people are not idle; they are simply searching for an opportunity to shine. The competition gives them an opportunity to showcase their talents on the world stage,” MRX Media director Rachael Muthoni said.

Structured to mirror competitive market environments, each GMC edition kicks off with a team draw, grouping participants into sets that are each assigned virtual companies.

The teams must devise strategies that drive sustainable growth, and through a series of rounds, decisions are submitted to GMC, which evaluates financial and operational performance through a proprietary online stimulator.

The top-performing teams proceed to the national finals, with the best team representing Kenya on the global stage.

GMC is the largest strategy and management competition in the world.

It’s the largest international event based on business simulations, in which university students and company managers participate.

Managing a company, without running real-world risks, and taking top management decisions, the competitors are given the opportunity to analyse financial and economic indicators.

Prestigious companies have participated in previous editions of the GMC.
