
President William Ruto on Tuesday inspected and launched various development projects in Kwale County.
His Deputy President Kithure Kindiki accompanied the president among other leaders.
Among the notable projects he launched on Tuesday include the last mile connectivity which is expected to provide electricity to over 12,700 households.
''The Sh1.4 billion Last Mile Connectivity Project in Kwale County will provide electricity to over 12,700 households, unlocking new opportunities for economic growth,'' President Ruto said.
The initiative is expected to enable powering of agribusiness and the blue economy.
Additionally, it is anticipated to create wealth and improve livelihoods of the residents across the region.
''I flagged-off of Last Mile Phase IV Connectivity Projects at Kiwegu Secondary School grounds in Vanga, Kwale County,'' President Ruto stated.
The president also commissioned fully equipped classrooms and a laboratory at Kiwegu Secondary School, which is expected to enhance access to quality education within the region.
Ruto also laid the foundation stone for X-Ray block as well as opening a theatre block at Mkogani Sub-County hospital in Kwale.
While in Mombasa, he opened the Likoni Technical and Vocational College and inspected Changamwe National Housing Corporation (NHC) affordable housing project.
He later addressed Changamwe residents where he issued 450 title deeds.
''We are issuing title deeds in the coastal region to address the longstanding land problem that has left many squatters, denying them the socio-economic benefits of land ownership,'' he said.
He will on Friday reside over the signing of an agreement with the African Export-Import Bank towards establishing the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone in Mombasa.
Ruto said the bank will contribute Sh30 billion as an initial amount for the project.
