Nyandarua Senator John Methu has called on former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to declare his stand after his African Union Commission chairmanship bid failed.
The Senator said the former Prime Minister should clearly state if he will join the government or work with the opposition team.
Speaking on Thursday, Methu said the time is ripe for Raila to declare his stance.
“To former Prime Minister Raila Odinga show us the signal so that we know whether you are with the government or with us. If you are joining the government, or you will join us, say it early. The time is now,” he said.
He spoke on Thursday during the unveiling of the Martha Karua-led People’s Liberation Party (PLP) that rebranded from NARC Kenya.
The event held at Liberation House in Nairobi brought together key political figures and civil society leaders, among others.
The former Prime Minister recently said that he will make a major announcement soon.
Raila’s sentiments followed a high-level meeting with President William Ruto, where the two addressed various national issues.
It was during the meeting that the former prime minister pledged to “consult wisely” as he mapped out his next steps.
On Tuesday, Raila, who began his consultative meeting in Kisumu, engaged elders from across the region.
He shared his experiences from the African Union (AU) elections, detailing the campaign process, voting dynamics, and the lessons learned.
He emphasized that the AU chapter is now behind him and that it is time to move forward.
He also met with youth leaders from Kisumu County and county party officials, reiterating that there is life after Addis Ababa and urging them to remain strong and strengthen the party.
Raila assured his supporters that before making any final decisions, he would conduct extensive consultations beyond Nyanza, engaging different regions across the country.
"I will not confine myself to Nyanza alone. After this, I will visit other parts of Kenya," he said.
He announced that before the end of next week, he will make a statement after concluding his consultation tour.
"I will make an announcement sometime next week; watch this space," he said
