President William Ruto on Friday inspected the Sh50 million Maungu Market in Taita Taveta County.

The market comprises 200 spaces, providing a conducive working environment for traders.

The President said small enterprises are a key pillar of the economy, driving employment in the informal sector, fostering innovation and promoting inclusive growth.

“The construction of 400 fresh produce markets across the country reaffirms our commitment to supporting this crucial sector,” he said.

Earlier, Ruto laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 458-unit Voi Pool House Affordable Housing Project.

The President is currently on a development tour in the coastal region.
