Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will today meet Coffee Caucus MPs to review the ongoing coffee sector reforms.

The meeting will be held at his official Karen Residence.

The 78 MPs are pushing for harmonization of laws and regulations to reduce deductions made to the farmers' produce and give them more income.

They also want the government to offset all debts owed by coffee cooperative unions and free farmers from recovery deductions.

They are also pushing for an increase of the cherry fund from Sh 2 billion to Sh 6 billion.

CS Murkomen to commission newly armored vehicles for the police

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen will today commission the newly armored vehicles for the police aimed at boosting security operations.

The acquisition is part of the government’s 5-year Police Equipment Modernisation (PEM) programme, set to cost Sh37 billion. 
Last year, police received 10 modern high-capacity Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) in addition to another 10 acquired in 2023 to form part of the first Sh7 billion that has so far been spent through the programme. 
The APCs are set to aid frontline officers in bad terrains and areas considered to be volatile.

It will be held at the GSU headquarters.

SHA meeting

The Social Health Authority (SHA) will today hold an employers' sensitisation meeting on the portal and registration.
The session aims to provide employers with key insights into the SHA employer portal, the registration process and compliance, as well as respond to questions relating to contributions.

The Senate Committee on National Cohesion Equal Opportunity and Regional Integration is scheduled to meet the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to check on the implementation of the national initiatives aimed at reducing ethnic divisions.

It will also meet the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to inquire into the representation of Kenya's diversity in the staff composition.
