A construction worker died after a wall collapsed at a site along Waiyaki Way, Westlands in Nairobi.
Three
other workers were seriously injured during the Wednesday evening tragedy, police and witnesses said.
The
victims were at the construction site on March 5 evening when the wall
separating two sites collapsed, trapping four people.
Police
said John Gichia, 45, died on the spot while his colleagues were rushed to the
hospital in serious condition.
The body
of the man was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Police
ordered the construction to be stopped pending investigations into the
incident.
Such
incidents are common at construction sites amid calls on the contractors to
prioritise the safety of their workers.
Police
said they are investigating a murder in the incident.
Elsewhere,
in Makutano, Koibatek in Baringo County, a man was electrocuted as he pruned
trees in his compound.
The trees
had grown to near live electric wires, which prompted the deceased Reuben
Ingutia, 52, to embark on a mission to prune them on Wednesday morning.
Police
and witnesses said it was then that he accidentally touched low-hanging live
wires, which electrocuted him.
He died
on the spot before Kenya Power officials and police were called to the scene.
The body
was moved to Eldama-Ravine Sub-County Referral hospital mortuary awaiting
postmortem.
Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident where a 60-year-old man collapsed and died
in his shop in Thika Town, Kiambu County.
Police
said John Gitau was in his shop when he collapsed and died on March 4 at about
8.30 pm.
The man
was attending to a customer when he fell off and landed on his head.
He was
rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body
was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
In
Nakuru, a man was found dead in a makeshift shelter in Kaptembwo area.
The body of
Samuel Wachira, 75, was found in the makeshift long after he had died.
He was a
homeless man, police said, adding he was under medication.
