The East Africa Somali Awards 2025 has been scheduled to
take place on April 15 in Nairobi Kenya.
The event is set to highlight the success, resilience, and limitless potential of the Somali people in driving change across various
sectors.
Somali Magazine CEO Ridwan Yusuf said the awards recognize
and celebrate those who are leading the way.
“For too long, the narrative surrounding Somalis has been
dominated by challenges rather than achievements,” Yusuf said.
“Yet, across East Africa, Somali entrepreneurs, professionals,
and businesses are thriving, innovating, and making significant contributions
to the region’s economy and society.”
From bustling marketplaces to cutting-edge financial institutions,
from technology-driven services to world-class supermarkets, Yusuf said the Somali-led
enterprises are shaping the future.
“This awards ceremony will shine a spotlight on those who
have worked tirelessly to build, grow, and uplift the community,” he said.
The East Africa Somali Awards will honor outstanding
individuals and businesses across a range of categories, showcasing the diversity
and strength of Somali-led enterprises.
Yusuf noted that success is not just about handing out
trophies but also about inspiring the next generation, fostering healthy
competition, and encouraging continuous improvement.
“When businesses and individuals see that their efforts are
being recognized, it motivates them to aim higher, innovate further, and give
back to their communities,” he added.
“Moreover, these awards help highlight role models within
the Somali community. Young entrepreneurs and professionals need to see
successful examples in their own communities—people who have risen above
obstacles and built something meaningful.”
Nairobi was picked to host the event as it was deemed the economic
and diplomatic hub of East Africa.
The city is also home to a large and dynamic Somali
community whose contributions to business, trade, and investment have been
instrumental in shaping the region’s economy.
“By holding the awards in Nairobi, we reaffirm the central
role of Somalis in East Africa’s progress and provide a space for networking,
collaboration, and future growth,” Yusuf added.
The nomination process for the East Africa Somali Awards
2025 is now open.
