Detectives are hunting for a gang of two that stabbed and killed a man aged 18 in a robbery incident in Nairobi’s Kayole area.

Another man was stabbed and injured in the Sunday night drama in Muthaiga Dumpsite area, police and witnesses said.

The deceased was identified as Clinton Otieno, 18, and had sustained head and chest injuries.

The attackers used a knife and needle-like object in their mission, police said after inspecting the injuries on the victims.

The injured man was rushed to a local hospital and admitted in serious condition, police said.

Police said they are looking for two known suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing and the injuries.

The victims are said to have resisted the robbery prompting the stabbing incident.

A gang had been marauding in the area robbing pedestrians when they confronted the two, police and witnesses said.

The body was moved to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.

Cases of violent robberies using stabs are on the rise in parts of informal settlements.

Police usually advise victims to cooperate with their attackers for their own safety.

A police squad has been formed to pursue knife-wielding gangs in informal settlements.

This follows a rise in such incidents in most informal settlements, police said.

Elsewhere, a guard was killed during a robbery incident at a wines and spirits shop in the Joska area, Machakos County.

The body of Patrick Mutua was found lying outside the premises on Sunday, March 16, long after he had been killed.

Police said he was struck in the head with a blunt object by unknown people.

The attackers then broke into the wines and spirits shop that Mutua was guarding and stole drinks and other valuables in the Saturday night incident.

They fled the scene, leaving the guard dead.

Police said they were alerted about the incident long after it had happened and picked up the body at the mortuary.

Speculations are that the guard tried to stop the gang from achieving their mission prompting the fatal hit.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Police said no arrest has been made so far and efforts to trace the killers are ongoing.
