Radio Africa Group’s Multiverse project has been shortlisted as one of the Best Innovative Digital Project for the Digital Media Awards Africa 2025 by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).
Launched earlier this year, the Content Management System (CMS) emerged as the top contender regionally in its category from among nine other submissions from various media houses across Africa.
Also nominated alongside Radio Africa in the category are MediaMax Network Limited’s People Daily News App, Manifesto MAYHEM project by South Africa’s Daily Maverick, and A Digital Revolution in News and Content Access project by Tanzania’s Mwananchi Communications Limited.
Multiverse is an inbuilt Content Management System (CMS) that seeks to cut production costs while offering other valuable options for Content generation and distribution.
Within that CMS, the dashboard is able to offer services such as paywall, subscriber management and newsletters to consumers.
Other categories in the competition included Best Data Visualisation, Best Fact-checking Report, Best Newsletter, Best Use of Video, Best Digital Subscription Initiative, and Best Use of AI in the Newsroom.
The winners will be officially announced on April 7, 2025.
According to WAN-IFRA, the nominated projects have demonstrated excellence in journalism, digital product development, and monetization strategies.
“Congratulations to all the finalists. We can’t wait to celebrate their achievements and announce the winners next week,” WAN-IFRA said in an official statement.
The recognition of the projects, it said, underscores the region’s commitment to developing innovative and engaging digital media solutions.
“While not all submissions advanced to the final stage, the outstanding quality and dedication of all participants remain commendable,” it added.
