Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah addressing locals of Meru County on Wednesday, April 2, 2024.

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwah faced a tough time while addressing a crowd of people that had turned up for President William Ruto's development tour in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua county.

It all started when the MP was ushered to speak immediately after ICT CS William Kabogo had addressed the crowd.

As he took his position at the top of his vehicle, the crowd turned hostile to Ichung'wah as he attempted to sell the government agenda.

Amidst the chants from the crowd,  the MP was heard telling off the hecklers, saying, “no one sells me fear" in Kikuyu dialect. The irate rally attendees, however, could not hear of it.

Despite his efforts to calm the situation down, the rally attendees refused to listen to his speech, making it impossible for him to continue.

Ichungwah is among a group of leaders accompanying President Ruto after he embarked on a Mount Kenya tour to inspect ongoing projects in the region.

A series of development projects were commissioned by the President, including the Ol Kalou water, J.M. Memorial Hospital Complex, Last Mile Connectivity, and sewerage project in the Ol Kalou constituency, as well as laying the foundation stone for the construction of affordable housing in Ol Kalou town.

Ruto had earlier hosted several women at Sagana State Lodge in honor of the late Ann Wanjiru Mumbuchi, a grassroots leader, best remembered for steering the 1,000-member Mathira Women Choir with passion and dedication.

"President William Ruto hosts Mathira women at Sagana State Lodge for breakfast to honour the late Ann Wanjiru Mumbuchi (Muchiru), praising her dedication to women empowerment in the constituency and participation in development activities. May her soul rest in peace," he stated.
