Kenya's national football team Harambee Stars has dropped three places in the latest Fifa rankings released Thursday to 111.
The November – December rankings come after the Benny McCarthy coached side registered poor results last month after falling 2-1 to Gabon in their group F 2026 World Cup qualifier at the back of a 3-3 draw with the Gambia.
This is Kenya’s worst-ever ranking in the last six years, after dropping to position 112 in August 2018.
Frenchman Sébastien Migné was in charge during the period having taken over the reins on May 3, 2018.
Migne would, however, redeem himself by leading Stars to the Egypt African cup of Nations played on 21 June to 19 July 2019, before cutting ties with Stars on August 12, 2019.
McCarthy, 47, is barely a month old on his job, having been unveiled as Harambee Stars' coach on Mar 6, 2025.
The South African is expected to lead Stars in the African Nations Championship (Chan) set to be hosted in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania on August 2 - August 30, 2025.
McCarthy, whose deal expires in 2027, is also expected to be in charge during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, (Afcon) tournament, which Kenya will co-host with their East African neighbors Uganda and Tanzania under the “Pamoja Umbrella”.
On the continental stage, Morocco continue to top globally, having jumped two places up to position 12 after beating Niger and Tanzania in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Senegal are second despite dropping two places to position 19 globally, Egypt come in third at position 32, followed by Algeria at position 36, while Ivory Coast conclude the top five at position 41, after moving two steps up.
World champions Argentina maintained top spot globally followed by Euro 2024 champions, Spain, who move one step ahead of France who drop to third spot.
England maintained position four while Brazil close the top five globally.
Asian side Myanmar are the biggest climbers having moved up seven spots to position 162, while CAF side Guinea-Bissau are the biggest flops having fallen eight spots to 128 in the overall 210 official registered fifa member nations.
