Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho has expressed his condolences to the family and loved ones of the late George Oduor, a long-serving aide and bodyguard to Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Oduor passed away on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

In his heartfelt message on X, the CS described Oduor as a close friend and a man of strong principles who was dedicated to making a positive impact on many lives.

“It is with grief and a deep sense of loss that I mourn the death of my close friend, George Oduor. George was more than just a patriot; he was a man of integrity whose unwavering commitment and loyalty positively impacted many lives,” Joho said.

“Indeed, his departure leaves an indescribable void for everyone fortunate enough to have interacted with him.”

Joho also offered his prayers for the family, friends, and relatives of Oduor, seeking strength and guidance during this painful time.

“In moments like this, words often fail to capture the depth of our loss. Yet, we find solace in his rich legacy of humility, kindness, and selfless service that will forever resonate in our hearts. May our prayers bring comfort to George's family and help ease their pain following this tragic loss,” he said.

“We will miss you deeply, George. Your spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the lives you’ve touched.”

This message of condolence followed a similar one from the ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who also mourned Oduor, describing him as a steadfast presence not only for him but also for the wider Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family.

Raila remembered Oduor as a vigilant, calm, and highly professional aide who remained dedicated to his duties throughout the years.

“George has been a part of Jaramogi's and my family since the late '80s. We have stood, fallen, and risen together,” Raila said.

“He was a vigilant, calm, confident, and extremely professional aide dedicated to his duty and a dependable rock by my side through tumultuous times. I will miss George, and I am sorry for all the friends who miss him already.”
