The famous 'Misheveve' chief Protus Wechuli who took the internet by storm has retired.

The Saboti Chief warmed the hearts of many Kenyans after a viral video of him hilariously narrating an alleged homicide case.

His narration took the internet by storm as many Kenyans took up the challenge and the educative way he was doing his job.

Chief Wechuli has been at the forefront of fighting for justice and articulating the rights of girls and women in a way the local community understands.

In a statement on Saturday, DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa said the Chief has been celebrated by Kenyans from all walks of life.

Kenyans celebrated the Chief for a dedicated and distinguished service which was not only felt among the residents but from Kenyans across all walks of life.

"One of the most popular Chiefs in Kenya Wechuli aka ‘Musieveve’ retired today and was celebrated by Kenyans from all walks of life for his distinguished service. What a joyous day in Saboti, Trans Nzoia County! Hongera my friend!" Eugene said in a statement on X.

In the video that has since gone viral for many years, Chief Protus Wechuli is heard explaining how a man was irritated by the vegetables his mother had prepared.

His mother had prepared ‘misheveve’ (pumpkin leaves) while he wanted ‘sarat’ (African Kales).

The irritation led to an altercation where the son jumped and threatened to beat up his mother. On hearing the commotion from the bedroom, the father rushed to help his mother.

The chief passionately narrated how the man aimed for his father’s fingers trying to chew them like he was eating ‘omena’ (sardine).

His narration captured the attention of many, with others saying that he is naturally hilarious and wants to connect with the community through his way of communication.

In an interview with Tumbili TV, Chief Wechuli said that the video of him narrating the incident was shot 14 years ago but has come to limelight recently.

“Akaulizia Mama, umepika mboga gani, mama akasema, leo nimeunda misheveve. Kijana akasema sikutaka hizi, nilitaka sarat,” the Chief narrated in 2008.

He added:

“Akaanza sasa kumzaba Mama makofi, makofi kwa wingi tena zaidi, mzee kuamka kwa kitanda akasema hapana, mwanamke wangu hawezi nyengwa hivi. Alianza kwa kutafuna mzee vidole, alitafuna mzee vidole kama omena na kumbe anafanya hesabu ya minus kwa maisha yam zee na mzee ni mkasa.”

From the narration, Kenyans termed him as a hardworking chief who interacts well with the residents.
