Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi has thrown his weight behind Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to take over from President William Ruto in 2032.

Speaking during the President’s tour of Tharaka Nithi on April 4, Aburi said Kindiki has demonstrated loyalty and commitment to serving Kenyans.

“In 2027, we know the President will remain William Samoei Ruto, but in 2032, we know that Kithure Kindiki will take over,” Aburi said.

Aburi thanked President Ruto for selecting Kindiki as his deputy and appealed for him to retain the DP in 2027, so he can prepare for the 2032 transition.

President Ruto is expected to seek re-election in 2027 after serving five years as the country’s chief executive. If re-elected, he is expected to retire in 2032.

Throughout his tour of the Mount Kenya region, President Ruto praised Kindiki, describing him as a loyal servant of the people, while hinting at handing over to him in 2032.

The President's comments came at a time when Kindiki responded to critics who had labelled him a "Yes Man," arguing that they did not understand his intentions.

Kindiki defended his loyalty to the President, noting that Ruto himself had once been in a similar position.

“I have seen some people mocking me by calling me 'Mr. Yes Man. For 10 years, President William Ruto was 'Mr. Yes, Man' for former President Uhuru Kenyatta. So, I’m not stupid, and I know what I’m doing,” Kindiki said.

In response to Kindiki's remarks, Ruto shared a historical perspective on leaders who have risen to the presidency since Kenya’s independence.

According to Ruto, only "Yes Man" leaders have managed to win the State House race, including himself.

“This gentleman, people are mocking him as a 'Yes Man'. I want to tell them that Moi was a Yes Man to Kenyatta, Kibaki was a Yes Man to Moi, and even I was a Yes Man to Uhuru,” the President stated, amid cheers from the crowd in Chogoria.
