Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwour, alias Jalang'o

Langata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has said remarks he made in Kisii on Sunday about meeting night runners were taken out of context.

Expressing his disappointment over some of the reactions the comments generated, Jalang'o said he did not intend to insult the community and urged the public to watch the full clip to understand his message.

He called on Kenyans to stand for truth and unity rather than allow misinterpretations to sow division.

“My heart is heavy seeing my words misquoted. I hold deep love and respect for the Kisii community — they are my family, my friends, my people. I would never insult them. Please watch the full clip. Let’s stand for truth, not division,” he stated.

Speaking in Marani, Kitutu North Constituency, Kisii county on Sunday, the lawmaker made remarks that during his stay, he witnessed what he described as a "meeting of witches" taking place outside his room.

"I arrived here early and slept at Marani Simba Lodge. I saw a small meeting of about 12 people at night. I decided to listen closely and realised it was a meeting of night runners,” Jalango earlier said.

"They were complaining that Jafo ( Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi) had ruined their work by installing electricity everywhere. They could no longer practice night running."

Jalang'o initially appeared to have made the comments in jest to highlight the MP's development works.

However, a section of netizens took to social media to p[protest over the remarks, demanding that he apologises.
