  • Osoi was arrested on July 29 by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
  • The prosecution says his arrest followed the launch of a civil movement known as Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI), which campaigns against police misconduct.

Three men linked to a group referred to as the ‘Kenyan FBI’ have been released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 each by the Kahawa Law Courts.

Patrick Osoi, Hiram Kimathi, and Jackson Kihara appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Koech on August 8, where they were also granted the option of a Sh200,000 bond each.

“The three are hereby released on a bond of Sh200,000 with an alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail each,” ruled the magistrate.

The court directed them not to commit any offence while on bail and barred them from interfering with witnesses or ongoing investigations.

The case will be mentioned on August 21 as the prosecution finalises investigations. Police say the matter involves activities linked to the ‘Kenyan FBI’.

Osoi was arrested on July 29 by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The prosecution says his arrest followed the launch of a civil movement known as Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI), which campaigns against police misconduct.

In an earlier court session, the State sought to detain him for 14 days, citing ongoing investigations into what police allege is recruitment for terrorism-related offences, as well as alleged possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The prosecution said these fall under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Osoi’s legal team rejected the claims, calling them baseless and politically motivated, and said he has fully cooperated with investigators.

The matter remains under investigation, and no plea has been taken.
