Newly appointed Kenya Revenue Authority commissioner general Adan Mohamed has taken oath of office at the Supreme court.

Mohamed was sworn in on Wednesday following his appointment on May 18 by National Treasury CS John Mbadi through a gazette notice.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 (1) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury appoints Adan Abdulla Mohamed to be the Commissioner General of Kenya Revenue Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 18th May, 2026,” the notice reads.

He replaces Humphrey Wattanga who exited in April and is expected to serve a three-year term amid pressure to boost domestic revenue mobilisation.

Mohamed previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Industrialisation and Trade and later led the East African Community and regional development docket.

He brings experience in banking, economic policy and public administration, having previously served as CEO of Barclays Kenya and managing director for Barclays East and West Africa, as well as Chief Administrative Officer for Barclays Africa overseeing operations across 10 countries.
