Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has showered praise on President William Ruto’s administration, claiming it has delivered development milestones that previous governments failed to achieve in more than two decades.
Speaking in Garissa town, Duale said the ongoing infrastructure projects across Northern Kenya demonstrate the government's commitment to opening up the region for trade, investment and economic growth.
Among the flagship projects, he highlighted the tarmacking of the strategic road linking Lamu through Ijara and Fafi to Isiolo, saying it will boost connectivity and unlock economic opportunities for residents.
Duale also cited the completion of the Isiolo-Marsabit road, describing it as a transformative project that has improved transport and attracted business activity in the region.
He noted that construction of the Modogashe-Mandera road is already underway, further strengthening links across the northeastern corridor.
“These are projects that residents have waited for over many years. Today, they are becoming a reality under President William Ruto's leadership,” he said.
Beyond infrastructure, the CS pointed to gains in the education sector, saying the Kenya Kwanza administration has employed more than 100,000 teachers to address staffing shortages in schools across the country.
He also credited the government’s economic policies with stabilising the economy and restoring confidence among Kenyans.
“Our economy has stabilised, and Kenyans can feel the difference. There is renewed confidence across various sectors,” Duale said.
The CS further praised the fertiliser subsidy programme, saying it has lowered production costs for farmers while increasing agricultural output and strengthening food security.
“Our farmers have every reason to smile. The fertiliser subsidy programme has boosted production and strengthened food security across the country,” he said.
Duale also highlighted the government’s investment in sports infrastructure, revealing that nearly 27 stadiums are at various stages of construction nationwide. He singled out the Wajir Stadium project as a key facility that will help nurture local talent and provide modern sporting amenities for young people.
The CS welcomed the reopening of the Garissa Passport Office, saying residents no longer have to travel long distances to Nairobi or Embu to access passport services.
“This has greatly reduced the burden on wananchi and made government services more accessible,” he said.
He also commended President Ruto’s decision to abolish the vetting process for national identity card applicants in parts of Northern Kenya, arguing that it ended years of discrimination and delays in accessing identification documents.
On security, Duale issued a stern warning to criminals, saying the government remains committed to restoring peace and stability in Garissa County.
“Security in Garissa County is paramount. Anyone engaging in criminal activities should know that their days are numbered. The government will deal firmly with criminals and ensure wananchi can live and conduct their businesses in peace,” he said.
He urged residents to work closely with security agencies by sharing information that could help identify and apprehend criminals.
Duale reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining development projects while ensuring security remains a top priority across Garissa County and the wider northern region.
