Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has expressed confidence that President William Ruto will secure a decisive and petition-free victory in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a church service and dedication ceremony at C.C.I Church in Olokarere, Narok East, and later at a fundraiser for 184 churches in Angata Barrikoi, Kilgoris, Mudavadi called on communities across the Rift Valley to rally behind Ruto’s re-election bid.
The Prime CS said Kenya should strive to hold an election free from post-election disputes and court battles, arguing that prolonged electoral contests often undermine national unity and distract leaders from development.
“We are sure of TUTAM for President Ruto and now we are working on a petition-free victory come 2027. We believe President Ruto will win fairly and transparently,” Mudavadi said.
He emphasised that the outcome would be determined by the will of voters and not coercion.
“This victory will be as a result of the vote that Kenyans will cast voluntarily. No one will be coerced. What we are urging Kenyans is to register in large numbers and turn out to vote come August 2027,” he said.
Mudavadi noted that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to conduct another round of mass voter registration before the campaign period, providing an opportunity for more Kenyans to participate in the electoral process.
The Prime CS attributed his confidence in Ruto’s re-election prospects to what he described as the president's development record.
He pointed to major infrastructure projects, including the planned extension of the Standard Gauge Railway corridor from Mombasa to Busia through Narok, saying such investments demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving connectivity, stimulating economic growth and creating jobs.
“President Ruto's agenda for this nation will not stop after his second term. His vision is to transform Kenya economically with a long journey of continuity with the next President who will take power from him,” Mudavadi said.
At the same time, he urged leaders and citizens to keep politics out of schools, stressing that learning institutions should remain centres of education and character development.
Referring to recent incidents of unrest in schools, Mudavadi questioned how flammable substances such as petrol find their way into school compounds.
He called on parents to take a more active role in guiding their children on discipline, responsibility and respect for school rules, warning that parents ultimately bear the cost of damage caused by student unrest.
The events were attended by several leaders from Narok County, including Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Women Representative Rebecca Tonkei, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Education Principal Secretary John Ololtua and Kilgoris MP Julius Sunkuli.
The leaders also expressed confidence in Mudavadi’s future political prospects beyond Ruto’s tenure.
Speaking on their behalf, Tonkei said the confidence President Ruto has shown in Mudavadi demonstrates his leadership credentials.
“The Prime Cabinet Secretary is one of the senior-most leaders that are helping the President to take this country to the next level. We have seen how Mudavadi is supporting the President's agenda. We are assuring him that come 2032 as a community and as a region we will support him take over from Ruto,” she said.
