The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a temporary shutdown of its iTax system to facilitate scheduled maintenance.
In a public notice issued Friday, the tax authority said the maintenance will begin at 8 pm on Friday, July 3, and end at midnight on Saturday, July 4.
KRA advised taxpayers and other stakeholders to plan their transactions accordingly, as the iTax platform will be unavailable during the maintenance period.
"Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iTax from Friday, July 3, 2026, 8.00 pm to Saturday, July 4, 2026, 12.00 am," the authority said.
The taxman apologised for any inconvenience the temporary interruption may cause and assured users that the exercise is aimed at enhancing system performance and service delivery.
"We regret any inconvenience caused," KRA said.
The iTax platform is KRA's integrated online tax management system that enables taxpayers to register for tax obligations, file tax returns and generate payment slips.
They also use it to pay taxes, apply for tax compliance certificates, update taxpayer information and access a range of other tax services without visiting KRA offices.
The platform is also used by employers to file Pay As You Earn (PAYE) returns, businesses to submit Value Added Tax (VAT) returns, and individuals and companies to meet their various tax compliance obligations.
It has become the primary gateway through which millions of taxpayers interact with the revenue authority.
The scheduled maintenance comes just days after KRA reintroduced a tax amnesty programme under the Finance Act, 2026, allowing eligible taxpayers to receive a 100 per cent waiver on penalties, interest and fines for qualifying tax debts accrued up to December 31, 2025.
