Embu Governor and UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire has said Embu County has benefited more under President William Ruto's administration than under any previous government, citing major investments in roads and healthcare.

Speaking on Sunday during a church service in Embu attended by President William Ruto, Mbarire said the county had secured key development projects that would improve the lives of residents and urged the Head of State to continue supporting the region.

She said Embu residents had every reason to back Ruto's administration because of the development projects already initiated and those planned for the county.

"We feel as the people of Embu that we have gained more from you than from any other President in the past," Mbarire said.

The governor pointed to ongoing investments in the health sector, saying the government had already signed a contract for the construction of a Sh450 million maternal and child health hospital in the county.

"I know you are giving us a maternal and child health hospital worth Sh450 million. The contract has already been signed and construction will begin," she said.

Mbarire also disclosed that the national government would construct another hospital worth Sh1 billion after President Ruto secured financing during a recent visit to Italy.

"You went to Italy and looked for funding. You later told me, 'Governor, I saw your hospital and it is quite old.' The President is now building us a Sh1 billion hospital," she said.

The governor also appealed for more road infrastructure, reminding Ruto of his pledge to expand the country's road network through the proposed National Infrastructure Fund.

She recalled that the President had previously said Kenya had built about 20,000 kilometres of tarmac roads in the first 60 years after independence and planned to construct another 20,000 kilometres over the next several years through the new financing model.

Mbarire said she intended to ensure Embu received a fair share of those roads.

"I have listened to you many times. You told Kenyans that in the first 60 years after independence, the country built only about 20,000 kilometres of tarmac roads. You also said that in the coming years you want to build another 20,000 kilometres through the Infrastructure Fund," she said.

"I will remain with you because I want Embu to receive 2,000 kilometres of those roads. I will keep reminding you until Embu gets its share."

She said previous leaders had often overlooked Embu after assuming office but expressed confidence that Ruto was committed to serving all parts of the country regardless of their size or voting strength.

"For many years we have supported others, but once they got into office they forgot us and concentrated development elsewhere. This time we will stand with someone who listens to us and does not look at whether we are a small community," she said.

Mbarire said her priority was ensuring residents benefited from improved infrastructure and healthcare, adding that such investments would leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
