Early voters queue at a polling station in Ol Kalou Constituency on Thursday, July 16, 2026, as residents cast their ballots in the parliamentary by-election.

Wrapped in warm jackets, Maasai shukas and hats against the chilly morning weather, voters turned out early to elect a new Member of the National Assembly following the death of David Njuguna Kiaraho.

The closely watched contest is widely seen as a key test of political influence in the Mt. Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Polling opened at 6.00 am and is scheduled to close at 5.00 pm, with voters in the queue by the official closing time allowed to cast their ballots.
