Tanzania president fires Foreign, ICT ministers in new changes

Ambassador Kombo will take over the Foreign Affairs docket from January Makamba.

Tanzania President Samia Suluhu has fired the country's Foreign Affairs minister January Makamba and his ICT counterpart Nape Moses.

In the changes announced on Sunday evening, Makamba will now be replaced with Ambassador Mahmoud Kombo in the Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation docket.

He has also been nominated to serve as a Member of Parliament.

Before his appointment, Kombo was the Tanzanian ambassador to Italy.

William Silaha will become the new Information Communication and Technology minister.

Before taking up his new role, Silaha was the Minister of Lands, Housing and Human settlements.

John Ndejembi will now lead the lands ministry.

He previously served as minister of state in the office of the Prime Minister in charge of Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities.

In further changes, President Suluhu also replaced Nassor Mabrouk as deputy Foreign minister with Cosato Chumi. Mabrouk will be reassigned to other duties.

Ridhiwani Kikwete has been appointed minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office.

He previously served as deputy minister of state in the President's Office, in charge of Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Clement Sangu will be the deputy minister of state in the office of the President under the Public Service Management and Good Governance portfolio.

The Tanzanian president has also made changes to other positions including permanent secretaries.

The provincial administration has also seen reassignments and new appointments especially to district commissioners.
