The Ukrainian government has responded after the Niger Transitional military government announced that it had severed diplomatic ties.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the allegations in the statement by Niger are untrue and have no basis.
"The accusations against Ukraine mentioned in the statement of the representative of the government of this country do not withstand any criticism, are groundless and untrue," a statement seen by the Star reads in part.
Ukraine also rejected any involvement in the Mali attack that led to the deaths of the military officers and Wagner mercenaries.
"Ukraine resolutely rejects any accusations of its alleged support for international terrorism, violation of the UN Charter and international law."
Ukraine said Niger decided to sever ties without conducting any investigations into the matter to prove their involvement.
The ministry termed the decision by Niger regrettable.
Ukraine said it is determined to continue developing mutually beneficial relations with all African states on the basis of equality, and non-interference in the internal affairs.
It further said that these relations are also based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states within internationally recognized borders, strict compliance with international law, and the Goals and Principles of the UN Charter.
On Wednesday, Niger said it would immediately sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine due to alleged aggression against Mali.
Amadou Abdramane, a spokesman for Niger's transitional military government, said it would appeal to the UN Security Council to decide the aggression by Ukraine and its sponsors.
He also called on the international community to "resist Ukraine's decision to defend terrorism in a global context".
Earlier in the week, Mali claimed a military official suggested Kyiv had played a role in deadly fighting near the Algerian border last month.
Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for Ukrainian military intelligence, said last week that the rebels had been given the "necessary information" to conduct the attacks.
Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga said his government was shocked to hear the claim and accused Ukraine of violating Mali's sovereignty.
Yusov's comments, Abdoulaye said, admitted Ukraine's involvement in a cowardly, treacherous and barbaric attack by armed terrorist groups.
