Niger's government has announced plans to establish a comprehensive list of individuals and organizations involved in terrorism, Nigerien news agency ANP reported, citing the press release signed by Niger's leader Abdourahamane Tiani.
This database will track those connected to terrorist activities or any other crimes that threaten the nation's strategic interests and public safety.
Individuals or entities will be added to the watch list immediately upon the commencement of investigations, legal proceedings, or upon request by security services, according to a government directive.
This will be followed by the freezing of financial assets, travel bans within the country, international travel restrictions, and limitations on commercial activities.
In the event of prosecution, the press release specifies, "for these offenses, the individual prosecuted may be provisionally stripped of Nigerien nationality by decree, and this becomes definitive if sentenced to imprisonment of five years or more."
To make list inclusion and removal decisions and resolve administrative issues, a National Committee will be created.
