Is it a done deal for the impeached Kisumu county assembly speaker Onyango Oloo? Well, some Kisumu MCAs were heard, somehow, giving up on the chances of him coming back, citing yesterday’s meeting between the newly-elected acting speaker Elisha Oraro and ODM leader Raila Odinga. According to the ward reps, the meeting was Raila’s clear message on his approval of the new leadership of the assembly. A political party figure who recently fell out with party bigwigs could find himself in deep trouble in the coming days. This is after the party’s lawyer wrote to the ex-official demanding an apology and a retraction of his claims. The former official has accused the party of sacking him after he raised questions over internal expenses incurred by the top brass. The lawyer is said to have demanded an immediate apology from the ex-employee or face legal action over his claims that bribery and kickbacks marred some procurement activities. It might be an interesting episode going forward after it emerged that the party in question is keen to clean its image.

The lawmaker’s friends were overheard criticising him for only settling his bills whenever they go for a drink. The fellow is now rumoured to be eyeing a governor's seat. The politician literally counts the number of bottles he has drunk whenever he is asked to settle a bill. Tough economic times or just frugal?
Officers from City Hall’s Environment department are either sleeping on the job or have just turned a blind eye on what is happening in the Parklands area. Open sewerage from a burst pipe in Parklands has been gushing non-stop for the last five days into a stream. The county officers have not taken any action to address the problem. Now, a young cyclist has taken up the challenge and is clearing the drainage to divert the flow. The man, in full cycling gear, has been camping at the bottom of the hill from Parklands, unblocking drainage and directing the flow off the main Limuru Road.
