An official from a county in Western Kenya is a man under siege after it emerged that his sponsoring party is allegedly unhappy with him. Some of the party linchpins have accused him of not being supportive on party matters after he allegedly declined a meeting with the party leader. It is not clear why the county official did not attend the key meeting a few days ago, but insiders say there is a feeling that the official believes he was betrayed. The party leader has allegedly backed the official's main rival for the county top seat in 2027, sparking hostilities. The county official is now working on Plan B in case he is denied the party ticket.

Still on party matters, a senior party member who was recently on the spotlight for alleged misappropriation of party funds has apologised and offered to refund the money. The official was said to have purportedly used party resources inappropriately, including hiring a chopper for a senior party official to attend a funeral in a certain part of the country. Corridors of Power is informed that the besieged official has allegedly offered to refund the cash and profusely apologised to his bosses. It is not clear whether or not the beneficiary of the flight could chip in. Speculations are that other party officials are said to have incited the party leadership to punish the official over a beef they have always had against him.

A night meeting between key political linchpins almost degenerated into a fistfight over a looming political agreement. This is after two of the leaders spoke bitterly about betrayal and even told another bigwig to his face that he was behind it all. Three others joined forces with the big man and cautioned that those who were not happy with the deal could as well walk away and chart their own future. A furious linchpin stood up and started lecturing others how similar betrayal had worked against the linchpin in the past, drawing illustrations from previous political agreements that were never honoured.

A governor from Nyanza is in a panic mode after the news broke of a respected and wealthy MP from the region declaring intent for the seat in the next general election. The first-time governor is scared that the former MP has a serious ground network in the region and allegedly comes from the area with the majority votes. Speculation is rife that the governor is restless and working hard to get community elders and friends to intervene on his behalf so that the former MP doesn't contest against him.
