Has a youthful MP from Mt Kenya already given up on any chance to be re-elected? The man who has camped in his constituency since the President’s visit of the region recently signaled his frustration, saying his decision to choose the difficult route that is not aligned with a popular political figure might affect his political success. The politician has been supposedly working hard to demonstrate the government’s initiatives in his constituency, but has been finding it difficult to turn the tide. At some point, the legislator allegedly made a statement to the effect that he was not seeking re-election, a statement he later withdrew.

A row has been brewing between two principal secretaries in a key docket over foreign travel, and from which department’s budget should the trips be paid for when escorting the boss. The tensions have gotten so high that their disagreement recently led to their boss ending up in a top meeting without any of the PSs escorting him. The argument by one of the PSs is that the colleague often apparently insists on travelling even when the nature of the meetings have nothing to do with the line docket. On the other hand, the colleague maintains their job cuts across the engagements of the overall head of the docket.

Is a previously vocal pro-government politician planning to decamp? Well, the legislator, who was until recently a passionate defender of the administration, has taken a step back and is rarely defending the government. Instead, he has camped in his constituency launching and showcasing NG-CDF projects that he has been able to deliver as an MP. The legislator is said to have been disappointed by the rapprochement of two top political figures, as he had previously opposed the move arguing if that happens, then there is no need for Kenyans to vote. Those in the know also suggest in his bid to get a third term, the man is allegedly ready to “align accordingly”.
