A video doing rounds on social media showing former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria calling for elections is misleading.

The video was taken when Moses Kuria was the MP for Gatundu South and not after he was fired as a CS on Thursday.

At the time, Kuria was addressing a press conference at Parliament Buildings in the company of MPs who were allied to William Ruto, who was then the Deputy President.

“We are ready for elections. We are ready for the government to be dissolved. We are ready to go to the ballot. We enjoy 80 per cent of the support of Kenyans,” Kuria said.

MPs allied to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga had accused Ruto of undermining the Head of State and challenged him to resign or risk being impeached.

In the video, a nominated senator dares Uhuru's allies to bring an impeachment motion.
