In Summary
  • The card emerged after a group of protesters took to the streets of Nairobi Thursday morning to oppose planned relocation to Kagundo market.

A digital card bearing the logos and official colours of the Star publication purportedly quoting National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah's alleged reaction to Marikiti trader's relocation to Kagundo Market is fake.

The card emerged after a group of protesters took to the streets of Nairobi Thursday morning to oppose planned relocation to Kagundo market.

The quote captured on the digital card indicated that the Kikuyu MP had censured the traders over the protest in an apparent move to defend the relocation.

The digital card is however fake as our publication has not developed and distributed such content either on our website or our social media platforms.

"This post is not associated with us in any way and should be treated as fake," the Star social media executive Tracy Mutinda said in a notification to the public.

As such, members of the public are urged to strictly rely on information posted on the Star's official and verified social media pages only not to fall prey to fake news.
