•The National Assembly consists of 349 members elected and nominated.

•The Speaker serves as an ex-officio member.

The 12th Parliament has held 557 sittings over the five years, including both special and joint sittings.

During the sittings, MPs considered a record 140 bills out of the 342 bills that were introduced in the House as either government sponsored, committee bills or individually sponsored ones.

Out of the 140 bills, 114 were assented to by President Uhuru Kenyatta and and became laws while 26 are still pending before the Senate.

Some of the legislation passed became the subject of protracted court cases after Senate challenged 23 bills by the National Assembly without senators' involvement.
