When police are allowed to use guns

New Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome on Friday said police are allowed to use firearm at exceptional circumstances.

Koome was sworn into office on Friday in a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

He takes over from deputy Inspector General Noor Gabow, who has been acting IG since August 2022.

This followed the retirement of Hillary Mutyambai, who left the service due to health reasons.
