The National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) report for the Financial Year 2022/2023 launched on Tuesday.

In attendance were Chief Justice Martha Koome, Attorney General Justin Muturi among other guests. 

The country is presently recording the highest number of crimes compared to what was been registered in the last four years, the report showed

In the period under review, financial year 2022/23, 97,301 crimes were reported to the police, compared to 90,371 reported in the financial year 2018/2019.

In the financial year 2019/20, the number of crimes reported was 80,212, which decreased to 76,525 in 2020/21.

In the 2021/22 Financial Year, police received 85,539 reports of serious crimes. 

The annual report by the National Council for Administrative Justice (NCAJ) showed that of the 97,301 crimes reported, 23,875 were offences against persons.
