The Kenyan police officers deployed to the UN security mission in Haiti will not be prosecuted for any misconduct, the Star can exclusively report.
They will not pay any taxes, and their wide-ranging immunities cover them even after the mission is accomplished.
The officers are on an operation to free the Caribbean nation from the grip of gangs who have made it ungovernable after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise on July 7, 2021.
According to the agreement Kenya signed with Haiti, mission personnel and local contractors are guaranteed immunity throughout their duties and after.
