Fourteen governors have turned around own source revenue collection in two years in what could change the devolution story in these counties.
Analysis by the Star shows the county bosses have increased their revenues by more than 100 per cent from 2022 when they took over.
Overall, the own source revenue collection by all the counties improved from Sh35.90 billion or 59.4 per cent of their annual target in 2021-22 financial year to Sh58.94 billion or 72 per cent of their annual target in 2023-24.
Leading the pack is Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga whose county’s own source revenue has increased by 716.03 per cent.
