Road accident statistics between January 1 and August 27, 2024, show a concerning rise in incidents compared to the same period in 2023.
Fatal accidents increased by 101, from 2,481 in 2023 to 2,582 in 2024. Serious accidents saw an even larger jump, with 477 more cases in 2024 (3,674) than in 2023 (3,197).
Slight accidents also rose by 125, bringing the total number of accidents to 7,114 in 2024, compared to 6,411 in 2023, marking an alarming increase of 703 cases.
These figures underscore the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and enhanced public awareness to curb the growing road accident crisis.
