Kenya continues to grapple with a high HIV burden, with over 1.37 million people living with HIV in 2023.
Among these, 71,433 are children under the age of 14. Nationally, HIV prevalence stands at 3.3 per cent, with higher rates among women (4.5%) compared to men (2.2%).
The top 10 counties with the highest HIV cases are led by Kisumu (135,550), Homa Bay (109,786), and Migori (106,003), reflecting the impact in the Lake Basin region.
Nairobi, with 82,820 cases, also highlights the urban dimension of the epidemic.
Efforts to combat HIV remain crucial, focusing on prevention, treatment, and education in these regions.
