US illegal immigrants deportation: Industries likely to face shortage of workers

President Donald Trump’s promise to deport millions of undocumented immigrants could significantly impact U.S. industries already facing labor shortages and potentially reduce the national GDP by up to 6.8 per cent, a survey shows.

The undocumented workers make up a small percentage of the overall U.S. workforce but play a crucial role in sectors like construction, agriculture, and hospitality.

As of 2022, construction and agriculture had the highest proportions of undocumented workers, according to data from the American Immigration Council.
