A report by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) shows that between October and December 2024, losing control was the leading cause of road accident fatalities, claiming 243 lives.
Other major contributors included untraced causes (170 fatalities), improper lane use (154), and overtaking improperly (105).
Misjudging distances or speeds resulted in 89 deaths, while negligence caused 62.
Excessive speed claimed 53 lives, with 41 fatalities linked to pedestrians stepping into traffic.
