The latest Global Hunger Index 2024 report reveals alarming child mortality rates in several countries, with Niger recording the highest rate at 11.7 per cent. Nigeria (10.7 per cent), Somalia (10.6 per cent), and Chad (10.3 per cent) also rank among the worst-affected nations.Child mortality is a critical indicator of a country’s healthcare system, nutrition, and overall well-being of children. South Sudan, Central African Republic, Guinea, Mali, and Benin also face similar challenges.
