A new study from the Situation of Adolescents in Kenya 2024 Report by KNBS and UNICEF highlights trends in the age at which young Kenyans first engage in sexual activity.
The data shows significant differences between urban and rural youth, as well as between men and women.
Among women, 9.2% of rural and 5.6% of urban respondents reported first having sex at 15.
The highest percentage was at 18 years, with 10.5% (urban) and 8.2% (rural).
For men, 9.4% (urban) and 9% (rural) had sex at 15, while 9.3% (urban) and 6.5% (rural) reported 18 as their first sexual experience.
