Kenya’s importation of medicinal and pharmaceutical products has seen a steady rise over the years, reflecting the growing demand for medical supplies.
According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the country imported 37,079 tonnes of these products in 2023.
This increased import volume underscores Kenya’s reliance on external markets to meet healthcare needs.
While the value of imports grew significantly between 2019 and 2022, reaching Sh92.9 billion, there was a slight decline to Sh90.56 billion in 2023.
