Kenya's motor vehicle imports have seen a steady decline over the past five years, according to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
In 2023, the number of imported vehicles dropped by 10.9 per cent to 78,127 units, down from 87,648 in 2022.
This marks the lowest import figure within the five years, which began with a high of 109,930 units in 2019.
The fluctuation reflects changing economic conditions, import regulations, and possibly shifting consumer trends.
Notably, 2021 experienced a temporary rebound to 103,860 units before the consistent drop resumed.
