The University of Nairobi (UoN) is planning to build 4,000 new student hostels through a Public-Private Partnership model.
The project will use the 30-year Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) approach, where the selected private firm will oversee everything, from construction to operations.
Feasibility studies were completed in October 2024 and approved in February 2025.
Hostels will be constructed at three campuses: Main Campus (2,000 beds), Chiromo (1,000 beds), and Kenyatta Medical (1,000 beds).
Currently, UoN can accommodate 9,863 students across eight campuses.
