The government has rolled out enhanced security measures across the country to ensure public safety during the festive season, a period often marked by increased travel, social gatherings, and heightened economic activity.
The measures are being coordinated under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
Security officers have been deployed to provide enhanced coverage in urban centres, highways, entertainment spots, and places of worship.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), working alongside traffic police, has been tasked with ensuring smooth traffic flow and improved road safety as travel volumes rise.
A National Multi-Agency Command Centre has been activated to coordinate surveillance and facilitate rapid response to security incidents.
Regional and county security committees have also been directed to reinforce counter-terrorism preparedness and intelligence sharing at the local level.
The government has further instructed the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) to intensify efforts to curb the production, sale, and consumption of illicit brews and drugs, which often spike during holiday periods.
Security teams will also focus on addressing cultural and social crimes, including theft and disorderly conduct.
Kenyans are encouraged to report suspicious activities or crimes through the toll-free emergency numbers 999, 911, and 112. Authorities say the measures aim to create a safe and peaceful environment as citizens celebrate, travel, and reunite with family and friends during the festive season.
