
AIDS related deaths in Kenya fluctuated between 2021 and 2026, according to the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council Kenya HIV Estimates Report, 2026.
The highest number of deaths was recorded in 2022 at 22,373, up from 19,486 in 2021.
The figure then dropped to 18,473 in 2023 before rising to 20,480 in 2024 and 21,007 in 2025. In 2026, deaths declined to 19,434.
The data also highlights differences in fatality rates by sex, showing men recorded 18 deaths per 1,000 compared to 10 per 1,000 among women.
