The National Transport and Safety Authority has issued a critical public advisory outlining the official operational protocols for paying instant fines.

Designed as penalties for motorists who commit traffic offences, these fines are subject to strict payment channels to combat rising security vulnerabilities.

To prevent public confusion, the authority has explicitly clarified that instant fines are not to be paid through the eCitizen platform.

However, eCitizen remains the official government platform for accessing all other standard NTSA service payments.

Amidst growing SMS scam concerns, the safety authority has directed that all traffic-related instant fines must be made directly at KCB branches or through authorised KCB agents into the dedicated NTSA account.

This specific requirement for in-person bank payments acts as an essential verification layer, aimed directly at preventing sophisticated social engineering fraud targeting unsuspecting drivers on Kenyan roads.

Motorists are urged to always verify the authenticity and source of any notification they receive before initiating any financial transaction.

Official and valid instant fine notifications are exclusively dispatched from the authority’s designated shortcode, 22847_NTSA.

These official communications contain precise information regarding the specific offence committed, the exact penalty amount due, and the accompanying payment details.

This targeted clarification initiative from the regulator aims to curb widespread misinformation, shield the public from fraudulent schemes, and robustly support ongoing national road safety measures.

Drivers are advised to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to these verified payment channels.
