Nominated Senator
Crystal Asige has been named an influential leader in TIME magazine.
The leader said
that she had no clue that her work was being recognised across the world.
Asige thanked TIME
magazine for recognizing her work and everyone who supported it.
“What! I am
screaming. I have no clue how my work travelled around the world and landed in
front of TIME, but naming me in their 2024 #TIME100NEXT list of influential leaders shaping the future of their fields and
defining the next generation of leadership is wild, and you are all right at
the centre of this acknowledgement,” she said in a statement on X.
Asige called
on youths to keep on working hard, saying somebody might be watching what they
do.
“Thank you
for helping me show the world that young, quirky people can also create an
impact! 1 Corinthians 2:9 says: That is what the scriptures mean when they say,
“no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has
prepared for those who love him.” I just want to speak to the underdogs who
feel like what they want is impossible,” she added.
“Please, please
keep putting one foot in front of the other, however dark it might be. You were
made for a time such as this on purpose and for purpose!”
Others named under
the category of leadership are Aisha
Nyandoro, Andy Beshear, Nahid Islam, Rachel Reeves, Elizabeth Prelogar,
Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Marine Tondelier, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Michelle
O'Neill and Ian Bassin and Justin Florence.
Time 100 is
a list of the top 100 most influential people, assembled by the
American news magazine Time.
It was first published in 1999 as the result of a debate among
American academics, politicians, and journalists, the list is now a highly
publicised annual event.
It is
generally considered an honour to be included on the list,
but Time makes it clear that entrants are recognized for changing the
world, regardless of the consequences of their actions.
The final list of influential individuals is exclusively chosen by Time editors, with nominations coming from the Time 100 alumni and the magazine's international writing.
