Tragedy as two teens die by suicide in Busia and Nyamira

Police say the teens were aged 16 and 14 respectively.

Two teens have died by suicide in separate incidents in Busia and Nyamira counties.

 Police say the teens were aged 16 and 14 respectively.

The first incident happened in Busia, where a 16-year-old boy died by suicide in his parents’ house after being suspended in school in Busia.

According to police, the form two student at Bungoma High School was found by his father hanging on a mango tree outside their house.

Preliminary investigations by police revealed he had been suspended from school for two weeks.

Officers from Busia Police Station visited the scene was visited and necessary action was taken. The body was moved to the referral hospital for autopsy and preservation.

Similarly, a 14-year-old boy was found hanging on a roof truss in his fathers’ house with a manila rope tied around his neck in an incident at Ikobe village, Nyamira.

The grade eight pupil at Ikobe D.O.K primary school claimed he was sent home to collect exam money on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the deceased went to school in the morning, and he came back home claiming that he had been sent examination money.

Police say he was directed to a shop to collect two hundred shillings and return to school, however, he collected the money came back to the house, and later died by suicide.

Nyamira police station officers processed the scene and necessary action was taken.

The body was moved to Nyamira county referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem

Elsewhere an 18-year-old man identified as of Maxwell Odhiambo was found dangling from the roof of a semi-permanent house with a Manilla rope around his neck in Siaya.

Police officers visited the scene and confirmed the incident.

Siaya police station officers processed the scene and necessary action was taken.

The body was moved to the Siaya County referral morgue awaiting autopsy.

The case is pending investigation.
