President Ruto arrives for KDF Day fete in Laikipia

This is the first military event Ruto is presiding over since he was sworn into office

President William Ruto on Friday attended the Kenya Defense Forces event at Laikipia Airbase.

The soldiers were celebrating the 11th anniversary to commemorate the valour and sacrifice of fallen heroes.

This is the first military event Ruto is presiding over since he was sworn into office on September 13, 2022.

This special day has been observed since October 2012 following the launch of Operation Linda Nchi in October 2011.

On Wednesday, KDF conducted a free Medical Camp at Likii Health Centre in Nanyuki as a precursor to KDF Day on Friday.

KDF medics offered various medical services which included; General Outpatients services, Beyond Zero Cervical Cancer Screening, Dental treatment, Eye treatment, Child welfare & nutrition, Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) services and Health promotion talks.

Last year's event was hosted at the Kahawa Garrison.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta laid a wreath at the Heroes and Heroines Monument, followed by an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the 7th Battalion Kenya Rifles.

He also commissioned a Communication and Information System Maintenance and Innovation Centre, a Level IV 150-bed capacity Nairobi Regional Hospital, as well as a Level III Armored Personnel Carrier Repair Workshop.
